Truck Sought in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Share

Police on Thursday were searching for an orange pickup truck with a white camper shell that fatally struck a 17-year-old girl in Chatsworth and sped off.

Maria Isabel Ramirez of Panorama City was crossing DeSoto Avenue at Lemarsh Street about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the midst of a downpour when she was struck by a 1988 Nissan Sentra, said Los Angeles Police Detective John Miller. The 23-year-old driver of the Sentra told police the rain was so intense she couldn’t see Ramirez but pulled over after striking her.

Ramirez was then hit by the pickup truck, Miller said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
