HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Louisville Ends 10-Year Drought

The Louisville High girls’ basketball team ended 10 years of frustration Thursday night by qualifying for the Southern Section playoffs for the first time since 1985.

With a 58-38 Mission League victory over Flintridge Sacred Heart, Louisville clinched third place and the league’s final playoff berth. Adrian Bilek had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Becky Witt had 15 points and eight assists for Louisville (11-11, 5-5).

Newbury Park 65, Channel Islands 46--Jann Thorpe had 14 points and Kara McKeown added 13 as the Panthers (24-1, 14-0)--ranked first in Division III--completed their first undefeated Marmonte League season with a home victory.

Thousand Oaks 60, Camarillo 24--The Lancers, who led, 37-13, at halftime, allowed their second-lowest point total of the season. Jen Detmer had 17 points and three other Thousand Oaks players scored more than 10 points.

Simi Valley 87, Westlake 61--Tawnee Cooper scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds as the Pioneers (22-4, 12-2) cruised in a Marmonte League game at Apollo Junior High.

Oak Park 65, Carpinteria 46--Alexa Valavanis scored 22 points and Natalie Davis added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the visiting Eagles (15-8, 6-3) in a Tri-Valley League victory over the Warriors (14-8, 5-4).

Cantwell Sacred Heart 66, Bell-Jeff 51--Leslie Michener, Linda Samayoa and Stacy Cobb each scored eight points for the Guards (15-11, 6-4) in a Camino Real League loss..

Littlerock 64, Antelope Valley 50--Jenny Lewis and Jamie Foster each scored eight points in the final quarter for the host Lobos (13-9, 5-5) in a Golden League game. Joyce Matus led Antelope Valley (4-15, 1-9) with 12 points.

Buena 59, Santa Barbara 40--Sophomore center Nicole Greathouse had 19 points and Eboni Conley added 13 for the Bulldogs (20-2, 14-0)--ranked first in Division I--in a Channel League finale at Buena.

Whitney 46, Campbell Hall 36--Elena Dubinsky scored 14 points and had 14 rebounds for the host Vikings in a Delphic League game.

BOYS

Santa Clara 69, Malibu 42--The Saints had their 94-game league winning streak ended on Tuesday, but started a new one. Adam Lopez had 12 points and Blair Ferguson scored 11 for Santa Clara (16-7, 8-1 in Frontier League play), which is one victory away from clinching at least a tie for another league championship.
