In Empire League girls’ basketball:

Century 37, Katella 35--Nina Alexander made two free throws with 13 seconds left to put Century (14-10) ahead for good, clinching the final playoff spot. Alexander (6 points) and sister, Addie (nine), combined for 15 of the Centurions’ 18 second-half points. Michelle Bye had 13 points for Katella (7-16).

In South Coast League boys’ soccer:

Dana Hills 2, Mater Dei 1--Dana Hills’ Oki Utsumi scored two second-half goals to send the visiting Dolphins (10-10-2) to the playoffs for the first time since 1989. Mater Dei finished 14-6-2.

Trabuco Hills 3, Mater Dei 2--Lisa Kasey scored all three of Trabuco Hills’ goals as the Mustangs (17-4-3, 5-2-3) handed Mater Dei its first loss in league and clinched second place.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Aliso Niguel 1, Estancia 0 (OT)--Lauren Franson scored in the 93rd minute to clinch the playoff berth for Aliso Niguel (15-5-2) at Corona del Mar. Kirsten Roy had 15 saves for her 13th shutout of the season.

In the Garden Grove League wrestling finals:

Garden Grove takes five titles--Garden Grove swept the upper weight classes in the finals at Santiago High. Steve Martinez (152), Brian Jones (160), Dennis Garcia (171), Darrel Paplia (189) and John Deer (Hwt.) took first place for Garden Grove. Los Amigo had four winners--Dante Pador (119), Luis Renteria (130), Luis Rivas (135) and Greg Fausto (140). Jimmy Ruvalcaba (112) and Carlos Garcia (145) won for league champion Santiago.
