COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cal Lutheran’s SCIAC Win Streak Ends, 82-69
Amy Cleveland scored 21 of her 37 points in the second half as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps defeated Cal Lutheran, 82-69, Tuesday night at Claremont, ending the Regals’ 12-game Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference winning streak.
Evi Orologas scored 26 points for Cal Lutheran (22-2, 10-1), which was attempting to clinch the SCIAC championship.
Shani Smyth scored 15 points for Cal Lutheran.
Azusa Pacific 77, The Master’s 37--Kim DeVries had 16 points and six rebounds, but the Mustangs made only 28.6% of their shots (14 of 49) in the nonconference game at Azusa Pacific.
Deborah Prociw added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists for Master’s (6-23).
BASEBALL
Glendale 9, El Camino 4--Steve Mikesell had two hits, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs for the Vaqueros (5-4-1) in a nonconference game.
The Master’s 5, Cal Baptist 4--Jamie Riggio hit a home run and a triple to pace a 10-hit attack for the Mustangs in a nonconference game at Newhall.
Right-hander Doug Maggiora (1-0) pitched two innings to earn the victory.
Derek Bell also homered for Master’s (6-3) and Mark Vail had a triple.
Sydney Jackson, Matt Musselman and Pat Vitamanti all had doubles for Cal Baptist (6-3).
Fullerton 12, Valley 5--Brandon Mora had three hits and scored two runs, but Valley committed five errors in the nonconference game at Fullerton.
Steve Zorn added two hits--including a triple--and an RBI for the Monarchs (3-8).
