COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Stoudamire, Arizona Outlast the Cougars

Damon Stoudamire scored seven of his 40 points in the second overtime to lead No. 12 Arizona to a 114-111 Pacific 10 victory Thursday over Washington State at Pullman, Wash. Washington State blew two chances to win when Isaac Fontaine missed one of two free throws at end of regulation, then Donminic Ellison missed two more at the end of the first overtime.

Stoudamire scored 33 of his points in the second half for Arizona, 22-6 and 12-4 in the Pac-10. Washington State is 14-10, 8-7.

The Wildcats overcame a nine-point deficit with 1 minute 12 seconds remaining in regulation, finally taking a 91-90 lead with 11 seconds remaining when Stoudamire made one free throw after a technical foul was called on the Cougar fans for throwing debris on the court.

Oregon State 90, No. 20 Stanford 71--Brent Barry scored a career-high 33 points as the Beavers broke a six-game losing streak with the Pac-10 victory at Corvallis, Ore.

The Beavers (7-17, 4-11), led by as many as 20 points in the first half and 48-32 at halftime. Stanford (17-7, 8-7) never got closer than 11 in the second half. Mustapha Hoff added 15 points for Oregon State, which handed Stanford its most one-sided loss of the season. No. 15 Arizona State 72, Washington 71--Isaac Burton made a three-point shot from the right corner with three seconds to play to give the Sun Devils a Pac-10 victory at Seattle.

The Sun Devils (21-7, 11-5) came back to win after the Huskies (8-16, 4-11) had taken a 71-66 lead on two free throws by Jamie Booker with 19 seconds left. Mario Bennett of Arizona State scored a career-high 37 points, 24 in the first half. Freshman Mark Sanford scored 26.

Oregon 95, California 82--Orlando Williams scored 24 points and Kenya Wilkins added 17 to lead the Ducks (17-7, 9-6) in a Pac-10 game at Eugene. Cal is 13-11, 5-10.

Silas Mills had 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to lead Utah State (20-6, 13-4) to an 89-69 Big West Conference victory over San Jose State (4-21, 3-14) at Logan, Utah. Utah State is tied for first place in the league with Long Beach State.
