Rich Sundstrom, who was supposed to bunt, ended up hitting a three-run home run in the sixth inning to help visiting Kennedy to a 6-1 victory over Diamond Bar in a Loara tournament baseball game Monday.

Sundstrom came up with runners on first and second and none out, but missed on his first bunt attempt. On the next pitch, he faked a bunt and swung and missed. He then worked the count to two balls and two strikes and hit an opposite-field home run, his first.

Mike Clark had two doubles, scored two runs and drove in another for Kennedy (2-0). Brad Sabol, a junior left-hander, pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Fighting Irish.
