Coach: Dan Gains (10th year).
1994: 10-2, 5-1 in the Sea View League. Finished second in league and in Division I finals.
Key returners: Dennis Ari, Jr.; Chris Chen, Sr.; Dawson Hughes, Sr.; Jeff Hyland, Jr.; Kensaku Misono, Jr.; Sean Moore Sr.; Nello Santillana, Jr.; Matt Simmons, Sr.; Jim Sirokman, Jr.; Justin Steinhouser, Sr.; Zain Vally, Jr.; Ethan Yotter, Sr.
Key newcomers: Jeff Green, Fr.; Ryan Harwood, Fr.; Brian Kim, Fr.; Jason Pace, Sr.
Outlook: So what do you do when you lose Derya Buyukuncu, the nation’s top high school swimmer? If you’re Woodbridge, it hurts, but it doesn’t put you down for the count. The Warriors still have some nationally ranked swimmers in Hughes, Moore and Yotter. There’s also Downey High transfer Pace, who will give the Warriors some good butterfly times. “Derya (Buyukuncu) was the biggest loss. But we also lost some others like Andrew Lazenby, Tunch Doker, Yan Gendlin and Mike Moore,” Gains said. Nevertheless, Gains thinks Woodbridge has enough power to be a factor in the league race.
