The boys and girls high school basketball season came to an official end as several San Gabriel Valley area teams lost in the Southern California regional of the state tournament.

Pasadena’s boys were eliminated by Dominguez, 88-55, in the Division II semifinals.

Pasadena Poly’s boys lost to Montclair Prep, 63-30, in the Division V semifinals and Nogales lost its Division I first-round game against Crenshaw, 79-69.

Muir’s girls lost to Woodbridge, 47-31, in the Division II semifinals.

* Michael Kawamura of Rosemead and Eddie Fukuma of Alhambra will compete in the national wrestling championships March 29 in Pittsburgh.

Kawamura won the 119-pound division at the state championships and is 63-0 this season.

Fukuma won the 171-pound state title.

* The Mark Keppel High badminton team, which has won five consecutive Southern Section championships under Coach Harold George, won its 100th consecutive match last week, a 19-0 victory over Pasadena Poly.

The Aztecs are led by Sandy Tirtadjaja, the top boys’ player, and Annie Tran, the top girls’ player.

* The 28th annual Arcadia/Foot Locker Invitational track meet will be staged April 8 at Arcadia High.

The meet will feature some of the nation’s best high school track and field athletes, including sprinters Deworski Odom of Overbrook High in Philadelphia, Bryan Howard of Canyon Springs, Char Foster of Clearwater Central Catholic (Fla.) and Malika Edmondson of Playa del Rey St. Bernard.

Distance standouts will include Julia Stamps of Santa Rosa, the national cross-country champion.

COMMUNITY COLLEGES

Rain has wreaked havoc with the community college softball season, but that didn’t stop Pasadena City College from giving Coach Sandy Iverson her 300th victory at the junior college level.

Pasadena defeated Grossmont, 8-2, on a three-run eighth-inning home run by Heidi Vandegrift, a former All-Southern Section player at Temple City High.

COLLEGES

Azusa Pacific second baseman Pat McGee entered the week with an 11-game hitting streak for the Cougars, who extended their winning streak to nine games with a 16-8 nonconference victory over La Verne.

Azusa Pacific was 15-4-1 and 6-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference after the La Verne victory.

* Senior outfielder Noel Magpoc is batting .344 for Cal Poly Pomona, which plays consecutive doubleheaders at Hawaii Hilo on Saturday and Sunday then plays a four-game series against Hawaii Pacific.

Pomona entered the week 12-13 and 2-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. after splitting two games against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

* Azusa Pacific opens its outdoor track season this weekend by participating in the Easter Relays at Santa Barbara City College.

Azusa Pacific, which will host the 1995 National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics championships May 25-27, won the men’s national title last season.

The Cougars have five defending national men’s champions, including Dave Pope in the decathlon, Tage Peterson (long jump), Hong Li (triple jump), Rene Bustamante (shotput) and Tim Cockrell (pole vault).

PREP ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Sandy Tirtadjaja and Annie Tran, Mark Keppel--Tirtadjaja, who plays No. 1 boys singles for the Aztec badminton team, and Tran, the No. 1 girls singles player, led the Aztecs to their 100th consecutive victory, a 19-0 win over Pasadena Poly.

The two play mixed doubles for the Aztecs as well.

COLLEGE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Pat McGee, Azusa Pacific--McGee, a senior second baseman, hit an 11th-inning home run that gave the Cougars a 2-1 victory over Southern California College, then extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single in a 16-8 victory over La Verne.

MISCELLANY

The 29th annual Mt. Wilson Trail Run will be staged May 27, beginning in Sierra Madre. The 8.6-mile race features an elevation gain of nearly 2,100 feet. Entry is limited to 300 competitors. Information: (818) 355-2355.

* Applications are being accepted for the Crown Valley Senior Games for athletes 50 and older as of May 6. Competition will be staged in five-year age divisions, up to and including age 95. Information: (818) 397-4062.

* The Pomona-based Puno de Oro boxing program for youths ages 8 to 17 is accepting registration. The gym is located at 850 E. Grand Ave. in Pomona. Information: (909) 629-5494.

* The city of Pasadena has begun registration for a young women’s softball league for players ages 13 to 17.

There is no charge for participation in the league, which will begin play April 14 at Brookside and Robinson parks. High school players are eligible after their seasons end.

* The American Roundball Corp. will stage registration for girls and boys varsity and junior varsity basketball leagues at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Nogales High.

* The city of San Gabriel will stage its annual city track meet on April 8 at San Gabriel High.

The meet is open to all students born between 1980 and 1985. Students may sign up with the after-school sports coach at their campus.

* The city of Covina is accepting registration for roller hockey and pee-wee and youth track programs.

The roller hockey program is for ages 6 to 15 and will consist of five practice sessions and nine games plus playoffs for qualified teams. Play begins in April.

The pee-wee program is for ages 5 to 7 and the youth program is for ages 8 to 11. Youngsters will learn fundamentals of the sports and will participate in the Mt. San Antonio College invitational youth days and Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation meets.

* A golf tournament sponsored by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for June 19 at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.
