A 69-year-old man at a transient camp in Llano was fatally shot following an argument with another man staying there, authorities said.

Wade Allen St. Onge, 49, is suspected of shooting the victim at about 9 a.m. Thursday at a mobile home near the intersection of 240th Street East and California 18, said Sgt. Ron Spear of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The body was discovered Friday morning by another resident of what Spear described as a “rural transient encampment” composed of temporary shelters.

The name of the victim was being withheld by sheriff’s deputies until his relatives could be notified.

Onge and the victim “apparently had an argument, and it escalated to the point where the suspect drew out a handgun and fired several rounds into the victim’s upper body,” Spear said.

Spear said it is not known what the men were quarreling about.

Onge was still at the camp when deputies arrived Friday, Spear said. He was held at the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station without bail.
