Estancia 3, University 0--Senior Jose Cabrera pitched a one-hitter and struck out six for Estancia (3-6, 1-3). Galvin Yanagisawa had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth.
Costa Mesa 15, Laguna Beach 8--Julius Vasquez was three for four with two doubles and four RBIs for Costa Mesa (4-4, 2-1).
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 9, Brethren Christian 0--Gabe Gerhardt was three for four with four RBIs for Calvary Chapel (6-2-1, 3-0-1).
Whittier Christian 9, Orange Lutheran 2--Whittier Christian’s Garrett Estabrook struck out 13 and allowed two hits to earn the victory. Orange Lutheran fell to 5-5, 3-2.
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 6, Los Alamitos 3--Roger Pechuls’ three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning gave top-ranked Fountain Valley (8-1-1, 3-1) a 6-3 lead. The home run came after Craig Ritter, whose RBI double scored Matt Roman, tied it, 3-3, when he scored on a passed ball.
Luke Hudson pitched six innings to pick up his third victory and Ritter recorded his second save.
Huntington Beach 3, Edison 1--Brandon Steele pitched a four-hitter to pick up his fourth victory of the season for Huntington Beach (7-4, 3-1). Teammate Jeremy Vidales was two for three with a home run.
Marina 3, Esperanza 2--Eric Turner went the distance, giving up four hits and striking out two to get the victory for Marina (8-2, 3-1). Josh Roberts was two for three with one RBI for the Vikings.
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 10, Capistrano Valley 6--Mike Kolbach gave up one earned run and 11 hits for visiting Mater Dei (6-2, 2-1). Josh Townsend had four hits, including a home run, and four RBIs and Rod Perry hit a grand slam to put the Monarchs ahead for good in the sixth.
In nonleague baseball:
Liberty Christian 11, Fontana Ambassador 1 (5, mercy rule)--Jon Stephens was two for three with a triple and four RBIs for Liberty Christian (4-4).
