GIRLS
Kristi Fox
SCHOOL: Newbury Park
SPORT: Softball
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Because Fox was playing for the Panther girls’ basketball team, which played March 18 in the State title game in Oakland, her softball season didn’t start until last week. But she was coming off a sophomore year in which she was 10-4 with an 0.47 ERA and nine shutouts. Fox was The Times’ Ventura County player of the year.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Fox began her season by pitching two no-hitters and a one-hitter in four starts. She pitched no-hitters against Hoover and Thousand Oaks, which is considered Newbury Park’s top challenger for the Marmonte League title. She pitched 26 innings in four starts, giving up three hits and no runs. She struck out 26 and walked five.
