COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Tellez Hits Two More Homers for Fullerton

Andy Tellez hit two home runs, his second giving Fullerton the lead for good in the 11th inning of a 13-10 victory over Los Angeles Harbor Friday in a Fullerton tournament game.

Tellez leads Orange County players with 14 home runs. He was four for six, scored four runs and drove in two.

Poncho Ruiz had three hits including two doubles, scored twice and drove in three. Matt Simpson added four hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in three.

Fullerton (25-10-1) took a 9-5 lead into the ninth but Los Angeles Harbor scored four runs.

Each team scored in the 10th and Fullerton got three in the 11th. Los Angeles Harbor had two runners on in the 11th but Sam Sullivan (1-0) got a double-play ball to end the game.

Derian Slayton had a home run, a two-run single and walked with the bases loaded as Fullerton beat El Camino, 9-4, earlier Friday. Ruiz had a home run, singled and scored three runs also for the Hornets.

Ryan Golisano had six strikeouts and gave up 10 hits in nine innings for the victory. He is 5-2.

In other tournament games:

Rancho Santiago 8, Los Angeles Harbor 1--Kyle Evans and Toby Sanchez each had a single and drove in two runs for host Rancho Santiago (27-9).

But the Dons’ 11-game winning streak was broken with a 5-3 loss to El Camino in the afternoon.
