Saddleback’s Kroeger Picks Hawaii

Micah Kroeger, a 6-foot-6 guard on Saddleback’s basketball team, signed a letter of intent to play at Hawaii next season. Kroeger averaged 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists and earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors as a freshman last season.

He will be the fourth Saddleback player to play at Hawaii in the last three years, following Eric Ambrozich, John Molle and Tes Whitlock. Kroeger, Ambrozich and Whitlock will be teammates next season.

Pat Antrim, a sophomore shortstop at Saddleback College, signed a letter of intent with Long Beach State, Saddleback announced.

Antrim, a graduate of El Toro High, is batting .354.

Christina Mazurie, Rancho Santiago’s batting champion last season, has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Oklahoma.

Mazurie was an all-state selection in 1994 when she hit .375, the highest average in school history. Her average is .388 this season.

Trabuco Hills’ Brandi Harms will accept a partial golf scholarship from Santa Clara, Mustang Coach Gary Sabella said.

El Toro’s Sean Callahan, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker, has accepted a partial scholarship to play volleyball at Cal State Northridge, his father, Ed, said.

Tustin High School has extended to Friday its deadline for applications to fill its head coaching vacancy in football. Those interested in the job, which includes a teaching position, should contact the Tustin Unified School District at 730-7447.
