In another Empire League softball game:

Cypress 5, Loara 2--Rubi Acatorre had three hits and scored two runs for Cypress (9-5, 2-2).

In the Century League:

Foothill 20, Santa Ana Valley 2 (5, mercy rule)--Michelle Churnock had four hits, three runs, three stolen bases and Stacey Brunansky had three hits and four runs for No. 1 Foothill (17-1, 3-0).

Orange 1, Canyon 0--Lindsay Huebner gave up only two hits and walked one for Orange (6-7, 1-2).

Villa Park 6, El Modena 4--Courtney Heil (6-7) had a no-hitter through five innings, but Villa Park (13-7, 2-1) had five singles, two walks and six runs in the sixth. Winning pitcher Tammy Kincaid (7-2) gave up five hits. Jessica Sammons drove in the go-ahead run. El Modena is 7-7, 2-2.

In the Freeway League:

Buena Park 1, Troy 0 (8)--Mariam Rivera scored on Jonna Martin’s one-out ground ball in the eighth inning for Buena Park (7-10-1, 1-3). Rivera had singled and stolen second and third base.

Fullerton 1, Sonora 0--Deborah Hargrave’s single drove in Kiki McAulay in the first inning and Angie Fancuberta pitched a two-hitter for host Fullerton (12-7, 2-1). Sonora is 12-7, 2-1.

Sunny Hills 3, La Habra 2--Megumi Takasaki had Sunny Hills’ only two hits and scored twice as the Lancers (5-7, 4-0) capitalized on three errors to upset the 10th-ranked Highlanders (13-4, 2-1).

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 10, Anaheim 0 (6, mercy)--Gretchen Thompson homered and Geney Orris pitched a three-hitter for Brea Olinda (10-8, 2-2).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Costa Mesa 6, University 5--Julie Collett had three hits and scored twice, and Sara Snyder had a hit and an RBI for Costa Mesa (14-4, 4-0).

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 8, Edison 0--Amy Vandermuelen had two hits and three RBIs, and Jennifer Krill had two hits and two RBIs for Huntington Beach (9-11, 1-2).

Los Alamitos 4, Fountain Valley 3 (8)--Michelle Schneider singled and scored the winning run on Cathy Sponheim’s single in the top of the eighth for No. 5 Los Alamitos (14-3, 2-1). Dinha Mead also had an RBI single.

Marina 4, Esperanza 0--Marcy Crouch came within one out of a perfect game before giving up a walk, but pitched her second no-hitter for No. 4 Marina (12-5, 2-1).

In Century League golf:

Villa Park 206, Foothill 213--Ryan Michel shot two-over 38 for host Villa Park (13-4, 6-1) at the Green River Orange course. Foothill’s Ryan Chambers shot 37.

In Garden Grove League golf:

Los Amigos 186, Rancho Alamitos 215--Matt Stafford shot one-under 34 at Willowick to lead Los Amigos (14-3-1, 7-0).

In Golden West League golf:

Servite 184, Westminster 200--Jeff McGraw shot three-under 32 for visiting Servite (11-1, 4-0) at Meadowlark. Duncan Stewart shot 38 for Westminster (8-9, 2-2).

In Orange League golf:

Brea Olinda 198, Savanna 219--Emerson Oh shot three-over 35 at Dad Miller for Brea Olinda (9-5, 5-1).

Valencia 196, Magnolia 258--James Wooley shot one-over 38 for Valencia (15-1, 6-0) at Alta Vista.

In Pacific Coast League golf:

University 203, Laguna Hills 221--Bill Vodensteiner shot par 36 for University (9-4, 6-10) at Rancho San Joaquin.

In Sea View League golf:

El Toro 220, Irvine 230--Irvine’s Justin Neiman was medalist with a three-over 39 at Rancho San Joaquin. Sean Taeger shot 43 to pace El Toro (11-3, 6-0).

Newport Harbor 206, Woodbridge 216--Morgan Anderson shot two-over 38 at Big Canyon for Newport Harbor (11-3, 5-3).

In South Coast League golf:

Capistrano Valley 405, San Clemente 407--Scott Rynders shot six-over 76 and Joe Burks shot 78 for host Capistrano Valley (9-4, 5-3) at Marbella.
