Ruiz, from Esperanza High, experienced some of his best offensive moments and worst defensive ones last week as Fullerton won two of three games. He was nine for 16, including two doubles and a triple. He had a game-winning hit in the ninth inning of one game and a hit to tie the score in the eighth inning of another. But he also made six errors, including four in one game. He starts this week with a 13-game hitting streak and is batting .372.
Volleyball

* Orange Coast, sophomore. He had 51 kills as Orange Coast earned a playoff berth by splitting two matches.
