As expected, the Dodgers announced Sunday that pitcher Hideo Nomo will make his major league debut Tuesday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park.

“It’s exciting to pitch against the Giants,” Nomo said through an interpreter at a news conference at Dodger Stadium. “I’m not nervous at all. I don’t have any pressure.”

Nomo was 2-0 with an 0.82 earned-run average in three spring training outings and allowed two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings for Bakersfield last Thursday at Rancho Cucamonga.

A contingent of about 50 members of the Japanese media have attended the Dodgers’ first three home games to follow Nomo and the game will be televised live in Japan, even though it starts at 4 a.m. Wednesday there.
