ROUNDUP : Costello, Agoura Double Up on Simi Valley, 2-1

Pat Costello’s second double of the game drove in two runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh, giving Agoura High a 2-1 upset of Simi Valley in a Marmonte League baseball game Wednesday at Agoura.

Simi Valley (16-7, 8-3) fell into a tie for the league lead with Westlake and will play host to the Warriors on Friday.

The Chargers (9-13, 2-9), whose two league victories are over Simi Valley and Westlake, had only four hits, all doubles.

Chaminade 5, Loyola 0--Matt Sagoian and Gabe Crecion combined for a six-hit shutout in a Mission League game at Loyola.

Sagoian (3-1) struck out three and gave up three hits in five innings. Crecion, who began the season as a starter, made his second consecutive relief appearance, scattering three singles.

Crecion also had a run-scoring single as Chaminade (12-9, 5-5) scored twice in the first inning.

Jason Giovannettone stole four bases, raising his season total to 25, and scored two runs. Scott Shubeck had two hits, including a run-scoring triple in the fifth.

Alemany 11, Harvard-Westlake 8--Robby Rehfeld’s three-run homer in the top of the eighth broke a 6-6 tie for the Indians (13-9, 8-1).

Harvard (4-17, 0-10) tied the score in the seventh on David Tuizer’s second double of the game, Jordan Krall’s triple and a sacrifice fly by Spencer Hudnutt.

Westlake 6, Newbury Park 0--Tim Carr hit a two-run double in the fourth and Mike McHargue had a two-run single in the fifth for the Warriors (18-4, 8-3) in a Marmonte League game.

Right-hander Bill Treese (4-1) pitched his first complete game, striking out eight and walking two. He scattered eight hits.

Royal 8, Camarillo 2--Kevin Mellinger had a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run home run in the sixth for the Highlanders (15-8, 7-4) in a Marmonte League game.

Manny Alvarado added two hits and drove in a run for Royal.

Thousand Oaks 2, Channel Islands 1--The Lancers rallied behind Santos Mummey (6-2), who went the distance on 85 pitches, allowing five hits and striking out three in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.

Eric Soliz had two hits and an RBI for Thousand Oaks (15-8, 7-4). Mike Sendejas hit a run-scoring single in the fourth for the Raiders (8-14, 3-8).

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Chaminade 1, Louisville 0--Kelly Durkin (7-4) pitched her third shutout, striking out 12 and walking one as the Eagles (11-7, 4-2) beat the Royals (9-9, 4-3) in a Mission League game at Chaminade.

Durkin scored from second base on an error in the fifth.

Alemany 5, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Jamie Moore had two hits--including a double--and drove in two runs for the Indians (22-1, 7-0) in a Mission League game that was called after 5 1/2 innings due to a time limit.

Sophie Contreraz (20-1) earned her 69th victory with three innings of one-hit relief.

La Canada 21, Monrovia 0--Lindsay Parker had 16 strikeouts, pitched a one-hitter and drove in five runs for the Spartans (16-2, 8-1) in a Rio Hondo League game.

Shannon Smith had four RBIs and Tricia Walton scored four runs.

Canyon 2, Burroughs 1--Hillary Shaw tripled with one out in the seventh inning and scored on Shalyn Martinez’s single for the Cowboys (12-10, 5-3) in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Shaland Romero doubled in the sixth inning for Burroughs (8-11, 2-6) and scored on a single by Dani Morris to tie the score.

Notre Dame 6, Harvard-Westlake 1--Cory Roberts had a no-hitter for five innings but the Knights scored five runs in the last two innings of a Mission League game.

Stephanie Acosta singled and scored the eventual winning run for Notre Dame (11-11, 4-3). Angela Rotstein gave up one hit after the first inning for the Knights.

Montclair Prep 7, Western Christian 2--Stephanie Aron had two hits and drove in three runs for the Mounties (17-3) in a nonleague game at Western Christian.

Oakwood 7, Windward 0--Susie Vatz (8-4) hit a home run and pitched a no-hitter for the Gorillas (8-4, 5-1), striking out 11 in a Liberty League game.
