HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Alemany Clinches Mission League Title Behind Macias

Esmeralda Macias, making her first start in seven weeks, collected both hits for Alemany High in a 2-0 Mission League victory over Chaminade on Friday at Chaminade.

Macias, who suffered a torn hamstring March 16, doubled and scored in a two-run first inning and added a single for Alemany (23-1, 8-0), ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll.

Sophie Contreraz (21-1) earned the 70th victory of her career for the Indians, who clinched the Mission title.

Saugus 3, Burroughs 0--Kelli Kranz had a run-scoring single and Chris Gill followed with a two-run double in the fifth inning for the Centurions (20-4, 10-0) in a Foothill League game at Saugus. Nicole Giordano had two hits for the Centurions, and Jamie Gillies (16-4) pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Montclair Prep 10, St. Monica 1--Tamra Freedman had four hits, including two home runs and a double, drove in five runs and scored three for the Mounties (18-3) in a nonleague game at Franklin Field. Jennifer Prince had two hits, including a double, and knocked in two runs, and Stephanie Aron added two hits and a run batted in for the Mounties.

Dos Pueblos 1, Ventura 0--Jenny Gesswein singled to drive in Aimme Grijalvo in the first inning of a Channel League game at Dos Pueblos.

Moorpark 6, Santa Clara 2--Megan Finnerty had a two-run single and Tina Milburn doubled and scored a run for the league-leading Musketeers (15-6, 11-2) in a Frontier League victory at Moorpark. Erin Heinbechner (4-2) went four innings for the Musketeers, allowing four hits and striking out six.

Crossroads 11, Campbell Hall 1--Erica Koibula struck out seven, allowed four hits and hit a double to lead the Roadrunners (6-0) in a Delphic League game at Campbell Hall.

Canyon 11, Burbank 1--Kassi Lemasters had two hits and four RBIs in a Foothill League game at Burbank.

Crystl Bustos and Hillary Shaw each added three hits each for Canyon (13-11, 6-4).

San Marcos 4, Rio Mesa 3--The Spartans (9-15, 7-5) had a 1-0 lead after Cynthia Almanza’s first-inning home run, but couldn’t hold it. Stefanie Christoferson had three hits, including an RBI triple, and Stacy Holmes added two for San Marcos, including her third homer, in the Channel League game. Second-place San Marcos is 18-4, 11-1.

Viewpoint 20, South Bay Lutheran 2--Summer Davis had three hits and three RBIs in a Heritage League game at Viewpoint.

Louisville 4, Harvard-Westlake 0--Stefanie Urman (9-9), who faced 23 batters, allowed only one hit and struck out six to lead the visiting Royals (9-10, 5-3) in a Mission League game.

Jennifer Glennie had two RBIs for Louisville.
