Americans Michael Johnson and Gwen Torrence won their 200-meter races at a track meet in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Johnson was timed in 20.22 seconds, edging Brazil’s Robson da Silva, who was second at 20.23.
Torrence broke her meet record in the 200 with a time of 22.43 seconds.
The biggest surprise of the meet was turned in by Jose Parrilla, an American who won the 800 in 1 minute, 45.15 seconds, beating favorite William Tanul of Kenya.
