DIVISION I

Westlake Village Westlake (24-6) vs. No. 4 Marina (22-5), Golden West College, 3:15 p.m.

Cathy Davie’s three-run homer provided Westlake with a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Foothill--at Foothill. The Warriors were second in the Marmonte League and are led by Kelly DeArman (23-5), whose earned-run average entering the playoffs was 0.12--same as Marina’s Marcy Crouch (20-4). The Vikings are the defending champions, and Westlake is in the playoffs for the first time. That didn’t stop the Warriors against Foothill.

Los Alamitos (21-6) vs. No. 3 Mater Dei (26-4), Canyon HS, 3:15 p.m.

Two teams with great defenses, similar pitching and contrasting offensive styles. Mater Dei will definitely put the ball in play against Griffin pitcher Mandy Rockwell (11-0, 0.30) as it uses its short bunt/slap game and tries to exploit its speed; Kelsey Kollen is batting .510. Los Alamitos faces the county’s winningest pitcher, Colleen Boddy (25-4, 0.86), and will get its share of healthy cuts from Cyndi Tredway (.380, 26 RBIs) and Michelle Schneider (.376, 14 RBIs).

DIVISION II

Santa Fe Springs St. Paul (29-4) vs. Woodbridge (22-9), Heritage Park, 3:15 p.m.

St. Paul, in the playoffs for the 13th consecutive year, has four players with 20 or more RBIs, Michele Bailon, Gina Monte, Stephanie Senteno and Priscilla Marron. But Woodbridge pitcher Christy Robitaille (19-5, 0.31) is giving up only one hit every 2 2/3 innings. Woodbridge is no slouch at the plate with Ashley Boone (.381), Lisa Weaver (.365), Nichole Thompson (.356) and Lisa Watanabe (.322).

DIVISION III

No. 2 Whittier La Serna (25-2-1) vs. Savanna (19-7), Loara HS, 3:15 p.m.

La Serna isn’t in the playoffs so much for its hitting as much as it is for its pitching: Jackie DeBoard (23-2) had struck out 242 batters in 171 innings going into the playoffs. No one is batting more than .300, but La Serna has outscored three playoff opponents, 14-0. Savanna is the surprise team in the playoffs, having upset No. 3 Glendora St. Lucy’s, 2-0, and outscoring Palmdale Highland and Moreno Valley Canyon Springs, 6-4 and 4-2.
