Phone Chatter Third to Private Persuasion
Making her first start as a 4-year-old, Phone Chatter finished a distant third in the eighth race Thursday at Hollywood Park.
Phone Chatter, voted a 1993 Eclipse Award as the nation’s top 2-year-old filly and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, trailed early, then made up some ground before finishing seven lengths behind runaway winner Private Persuasion. Corey Black replaced an ailing Corey Nakatani on Phone Chatter, the 2-1 third choice in the field of five. Dancing Mirage, the 17-10 favorite, was fourth.
Private Persuasion, able to get off to an easy lead, breezed home four lengths in front of 10-1 shot Lunar Spook.
