Rondell White set a Montreal Expo record with six hits and also hit for the cycle Sunday at San Francisco in a 13-inning, 10-8 victory over the Giants.

White went six for seven with two doubles, scored five runs, drove in three runs and stole a base. He became the fourth Montreal player to hit for the cycle.

White tripled with two outs in the 13th, leading to Tim Laker’s two-run triple that gave the Expos a three-game sweep at Candlestick Park for the first time since August 1984. Montreal had a season-high 20 hits.

In the series, they outscored the Giants, 30-16.

Laker’s triple off Stephen Mintz (0-1), the seventh Giant pitcher, drove in White and Tony Tarasco, who was intentionally walked. Gabe White (1-0) was the winner.

Cincinnati 3, Houston 2--Ron Gant homered with one out in the 10th inning to give the Reds a victory over the Astros and a four-game series sweep, their first at the Astrodome since 1972.

Gant’s homer was his 12th of the season--and fifth against the Astros.

“Maybe next time we see him, we’ll walk him every time,” Astro Manager Terry Collins said.

Houston starter Doug Drabek tied a career high with 11 strikeouts, but was not involved in the decision. Drabek was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth after allowing seven hits, two runs and a pair of walks.

The sweep was Cincinnati’s fifth of the year. The Reds have won 27 of their last 33 games.

Cincinnati starter C.J. Nitkowski, a 22-year-old left-hander who was called up from triple-A Indianapolis on June 3, made his second career start and lasted 5 1/3 innings. He allowed seven hits and two runs while walking two and striking out six.

Colorado 5, Chicago 1--Former Angel Dante Bichette extended his hitting streak to a club-record 17 games and Mark Thompson pitched six-plus strong innings as the Rockies won at Wrigley Field.

Bichette’s RBI double highlighted a three-run third and helped lift the Rockies to their ninth victory in 11 games. It also enabled Bichette to match the Dodgers’ Eric Karros for the National League’s longest hitting streak of the season.

Chicago shortstop Shawon Dunston, whose seventh-inning, three-run homer gave the Cubs a 3-0 victory Saturday, was ejected in the sixth inning Sunday.

Dunston reacted angrily after a hard slide by Jason Bates on an unsuccessful steal attempt, knocking off Bates’ helmet and causing both benches to empty.

St. Louis 8, Atlanta 4--Bernard Gilkey went four for four as the Cardinals won at Atlanta.

Besides collecting three singles, a double and a walk in five trips to the plate, Gilkey scored three runs, stole two bases and drove in a run.

Gilkey, who is hitting .344, leads the majors in hits (64) and multi-hit games (22). He leads St. Louis in homers with eight, two more than his entire 1994 total. He also leads the Cardinals in runs (31) and runs batted in (32).

Vicente Palacios, making his third start of the season, allowed three runs and eight hits in four innings. John Habyan (2-1) then worked three scoreless innings to get the victory.

In his shortest outing since a 2 1/3-inning start at Dodger Stadium on June 5, 1994, loser Steve Avery (1-4) allowed six runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings. In his last 13 innings, Avery has allowed 25 hits.

San Diego 6, New York 3--Brian Johnson’s three-run homer in the ninth inning at San Diego gave the Padres a sweep of their three-game series with the Mets.

Tony Gwynn led off the ninth with a single and took second on a wild pitch by Jerry DiPoto (0-3). Doug Henry relieved and walked Roberto Petagine intentionally before Johnson hit a 1-0 pitch to straightaway center field, his third homer of the season.

Pittsburgh 4, Florida 3--The Pirates got doubles from Mark Johnson and Nelson Liriano in the ninth inning to win at Miami.
