Boy, 9, Steps Into Path of L.A. Police Car, Is Killed
A 9-year-old boy was killed Sunday near Downtown Los Angeles when he apparently walked into the path of a police car heading to a homicide investigation, officers said.
The Los Angeles police patrol car was headed south on Occidental Boulevard near 3rd Street at an undetermined speed at about 5 p.m. when the boy apparently stepped into its path, Officer Cherie Clair said.
The boy, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, she said.
A special police unit is investigating the death, Clair said.
