SILVERWOOD LAKE — Divers failed to locate the body of 4 year-old Marisol Quezada of La Habra, who fell from a crowded aluminum boat on Sunday and is presumed drowned, authorities said Tuesday.
Supervising State Park Ranger Ron Krueper said the search will resume today when divers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department return with underwater video equipment and lights.
Krueper said searchers confined their efforts Tuesday to shallow areas of the reservoir, which is up to 100 feet deep with 13 miles of shoreline.
He said the visibility underwater is “about zero” and the lake was crowded with nearly 10,000 visitors and 200 boats.
Seven children and two adults were riding in the boat when it overturned about 4:15 p.m. The maximum capacity for the boat is four people. The girl was not wearing a life vest.
The family declined to comment Tuesday evening and referred callers to a lawyer in Los Angeles who could not be reached for comment.
