OXNARD : Motorist Killed in Collision With Truck

An Oxnard man was killed Wednesday when the top of his Nissan pickup truck was sheared off by a semi-truck at the intersection of Rice and Latigo avenues in Oxnard.
Police said Jose Zuverza, 28, ran a red light about 11 a.m. while traveling south on Rice Road and collided with a semi driven by Donald Dikes, 57, of Ventura.
Zuverza was pronounced dead at the scene, and Dikes was uninjured.
Witnesses said Zuverza accelerated when the light on Rice turned yellow, entering the intersection after the light on Latigo turned green.
The intersection was blocked for about three hours.
