AMERICAN LEGION ROUNDUP : Van Nuys West Gets Slam-Dunked, 20-0

Mike Glendenning slugged grand slams in the first and third innings as Woodland Hills West struck for 10 runs in its first at-bat and cruised to a 20-0 victory over Van Nuys West in a District 20 game Saturday at El Camino Real High.

Glendenning, who also doubled and was hit by a pitch, drove in nine runs and scored four.

Gus Lomeli had three hits and scored three runs, and Craig Hennes added three hits for Woodland Hills West (11-9).

P.J. Reyes (3-4) blanked Van Nuys West over five innings, scattering five hits, striking out four and walking none.

In other District 20 games:

Van Nuys East 9, Burbank South 7--Justin Bunch had two hits and two RBIs for Van Nuys East (14-6) at Burroughs High. Tommy Perez had three hits and three RBIs for Burbank South (6-13).

Woodland Hills East 8, Las Virgenes 4--Justin Collins had three hits, including a double, for Woodland Hills East at Calabasas High.

Earlier, Las Virgenes (11-11) took an 8-5 victory in 11 innings from Woodland Hills East to complete a game that was suspended by darkness June 7.

Panorama City 5, Studio City 3--John Wilson had two hits and drove in a run, and Seth Barkley added a double and two RBIs for Panorama City (12-8) at Queen of Angels field. John Ennis (3-0) went seven innings, scattering seven hits and striking out seven.

Valley North 12, North Hollywood West 5--Valley North (11-8) scored in every inning but the first at North Hollywood High.

Hector Menchaca had two hits and two stolen bases for North Hollywood West (8-12).

DISTRICT 16

Westlake-Royal-Oak 17, Moorpark 6--Kevin McClure had four hits and scored three runs for Westlake-Royal-Oak (18-7, 14-2) at Moorpark High.

Ventura 7, Thousand Oaks 1--Jeremy Pierce (6-0) pitched a five-hitter and struck out six, and Brian Riley added two hits, including a two-run double, for Ventura (11-3) at Thousand Oaks High.
