A Simi Valley man was found shot to death Tuesday in a car parked on an exit ramp of the Simi Valley Freeway in Chatsworth, triggering a massive traffic jam for morning commuters, police said.

John Langworthy, 28, was found dead about 3 a.m. on the De Soto Avenue off-ramp, Los Angeles police said.

A friend who was driving the car told police that he and Langworthy had been traveling in the area of Parthenia Street and Vanalden Avenue in Northridge when three or four men fired on their vehicle, police said.

Langworthy was shot in the upper torso. His friend, whose name was not released, told police that he drove toward the freeway where he “hailed security units,” police said. No arrests had been made.
