Tyler Lang and Cody Clemmons hooked up on two touchdown passes and Tramel Robinson ran for another to give Foothill a 21-18 nonleague victory over Tustin Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Foothill, ranked fourth in Orange County, lost one of its top players, junior defensive lineman Ruben Vaughan, when he left at the end of the first quarter with a strained left knee.

As a result, Tustin put together an effective rushing attack. Myron Miller, who made his Tustin coaching debut after four years at Costa Mesa, got 135 yards and a touchdown from junior Brandon Lambert and 266 total rushing yards.

Sophomore DeShaun Foster rushed for 77 yards and junior Greg Carnal ran for 52 yards to keep the Tillers in the game.

Foothill, which won back-to-back games against Tustin for the first time since the 1987 and 1988 seasons, had a balanced offense, with Lang throwing for 102 yards and Robinson rushing for 150 yards in 19 carries.

Lang hit Clemmons on touchdown passes of five and 46 yards.

Tustin scored its final touchdown with 3 minutes 57 seconds left in the game on a two-yard run by Lambert. The Tillers failed on two-point conversion attempts after each touchdown.
