Services Set for Arizona’s Damon Terrell

A wake for Damon Terrell, the Arizona football player who died last week while recuperating in a Tucson hospital, will begin at 6 tonight at Harris and Ross Mortuary, 4601 S. Crenshaw, Los Angeles. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First AME Church, 2270 S. Harvard, Los Angeles.

Terrell, a month shy of his 22nd birthday, played football and baseball at Serra High in Gardena and El Camino College in Torrance. He was projected to be Arizona’s starting tight end. He collapsed during a conditioning drill Aug. 10 and was recovering from the removal of a ruptured spleen when he died.

The Pima County medical examiner has given preliminary autopsy results to the family but, at the family’s request, has not announced the cause of death.
