Nordhoff 7, Santa Ynez 0--Dusty Dillard blocked a punt late in the third quarter and teammate Rusty Parry recovered in the end zone for the Rangers (2-0) in game at Santa Ynez.

Russell Farrar (21 carries, 89 yards) and Greg Coleman (17 carries, 54 yards) led Nordhoff, which rushed for 165 yards.

The Rangers limited Santa Ynez (0-2) to 138 yards, only 24 passing. Nordhoff sacked quarterback Riley Roberts twice and held him to three for 14 passing for 24 yards. Bobby Jones had an interception, giving him three in two games.

The Rangers stopped a late Pirate drive at the Nordhoff 36 when Roberts’ fourth-down pass fell incomplete. Nordhoff also made a defensive stand late in the second quarter, stopping the the Pirates after they had first and goal at the Ranger three. Alfredo Rico’s 24-yard field goal attempt was blocked.
