THOUSAND OAKS : County Fire Stations to Model New Look

Two Ventura County fire stations will host open houses next week to show off remodeled and upgraded facilities.
Thousand Oaks’ Fire Station 34, at 555 Avenida de los Arboles, will offer station tours along with coffee and cookies from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday.
The 4,200-square-foot station, which was constructed in 1961, recently underwent some major repairs and remodeling costing nearly $95,000. Renovation included plastering the exterior, enclosing a workshop, remodeling the firefighters’ sleeping quarters, upgrading the electrical system and installing a security system.
Fire Station 42, at 782 Moorpark Ave., in Moorpark will hold an open house with station tours, coffee and cookies from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 28.
The 4,200-square-foot station, which was constructed in 1952, underwent about $49,000 worth of repairs and upgrades. The exterior received a fresh coating of stucco and paint, the roof was replaced with red clay shingles and the front office was remodeled.
