Oliver McCall, who lost his heavyweight boxing title early this month in Wembly Stadium near London, lost even more in St. Louis.
Three men robbed McCall of his purse--a check for $1,405,238--about 3 a.m. Thursday in a public housing complex, police said. McCall had tried to keep the check by hiding it in a sock.
McCall earned the check in an unsuccessful defense of his World Boxing Council title Sept. 2.
Police quickly arrested two of the suspects and recovered the check, which had been signed by boxing promoter Don King.
