Carpinteria 30, St. Bonaventure 29--After bouncing off his own blocker at the start of the play, quarterback Brian Benza ran 46 yards for the winning touchdown with 8 minutes 19 seconds left to give Carpinteria (5-2, 2-0) a victory at Ventura High.

Benza, who also scored on a 33-yard run with 33 seconds left in the first half to give the Warriors a 24-23 lead, was sacked twice and stopped for no gain in his three carries prior to the game-winner.

The lead changed hands on every score while the Seraphs (5-2, 1-1) were outgaining Carpinteria, 403-239.

Topi Sanchez carried 20 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns, while Teohua Sanchez completed 20 of 30 passes for 234 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown to Nick Trujillo with 4:44 left in the second quarter to give St. Bonaventure a 15-11 lead.

Pepe Villasenor had six receptions for 59 yards and Brandon Mihalik caught five passes for 74 yards for the Seraphs.

Benza finished with 78 yards in 14 carries, while Doug Burrell added 92 yards in 14 rushes, including a six-yard touchdown at 9:50 in the second quarter that put Carpinteria ahead, 11-8.
