VALLEY WEEKEND : SATURDAY

LAST DANCE?

Radio station KLSX-FM switched its format earlier this year from classic rock to a mixed bag of mostly talk shows and just a little music. It even hired Kato Kaelin as a talk show host.

But no matter, the station is continuing a tradition from its past life as a music station and sponsoring a free, outdoor rock concert at Woodley Park in Van Nuys for the third consecutive year.

Two years ago, Stephen Stills headlined a show that drew almost 30,000 people, and last year Fleetwood Mac drew more than 35,000.

HALLOWEEN HOLIDAY

If you’re looking for that final touch for your Halloween party, actor Tom Willett’s album, “Ghost Gallery,” might be just the thing.

Willett, who lives in a trailer in Van Nuys, recorded “Ghost Gallery” in his computer-based digital recording studio in his home. Willett says that modern technology has made it possible for home studios to achieve the sound quality of bigger, professional studios.

“I really enjoy telling a good ghost story,” Willett says. “I have a tendency to pick up on things that are a little weird.”

Willett has selected more than 12 ghost stories for his dramatic interpretation. He claims his tales are based on true stories. His cast of characters includes Abe Lincoln, James Dean, George Patton, Montgomery Clift and Count Dracula.

Willett has appeared in more than 200 films and television shows, including “Flashdance,” “Dear John,” and “Back to the Future.”
