Jamar Day of Rosamond rushed for 452 yards in 29 carries and scored four touchdowns in a wild 66-45 victory over Bishop. His single-game total ranks No. 5 on the all-time state list and is the most in the state since 1991, when David Dotson from Valley View of Moreno Valley set the record with 507 yards. Day leads the state in rushing with 1,525 yards. . . . Chris Claiborne of J.W. North in Riverside carried 17 times for 115 yards and one touchdown and caught two touchdown passes, including the game winner, covering 20 yards, from Robert Farias in a 29-25 victory over Rubidoux. Claiborne also blocked a two-point conversion pass and made several tackles at linebacker. . . . Corona Centennial’s Damion Barton rushed for 218 yards and caught passes for another 93 yards in a 41-13 victory over Elsinore. . . . Led by Kimi Welsh, who finished fifth overall in 18:04; Mindy Brown, ninth in 18:25; and Vickie Whiteside, 13th in 18:35, the Yucaipa girls’ cross-country team beat Concord Clayton Valley, 78-79, to win the girls’ race at the Mt. SAC invitational cross-country meet. The key, said Coach Jim Clendaniel, was the race run by Christin Ray, who finished 19th in 18:57 and “ran the race of her life.” Another key was the 32nd-place finish by Serena Meyer (19:36).
