Eugene Bernal, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound tackle at Valley College, said he has committed to play football at Iowa State.
Bernal, a sophomore from Alemany High, was an All-Western State Conference selection.
Baseball
Nathan Kaup of Camarillo High announced that he has committed to play baseball at Oklahoma State.
Kaup, a right-hander, was 6-2 with a 2.80 earned-run average and batted .377 last season.
Mid-Valley Pony will hold registration for the spring season today and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its complex at Louise Avenue and Oxnard Street in Encino.

La Canada High forward Jason Cropley has committed to Maryland, and teammate Nick Paneno, a fullback, has committed to UCLA.
Louisville High midfielder Kim Daws has committed to Duke.
World Cup soccer star Eric Wynalda will hold a camp at Westlake High starting Monday. Also scheduled to attend is World Cup teammate Cobi Jones.

Basketball
Ventura College remains atop the J.C. Athletic Bureau state polls. The men are 12-0, the women 11-0.
Antelope Valley (8-4) is ranked seventh and Valley (8-3) is 17th in the men’s poll. Valley’s women (7-4) are 16th.
Water Polo
Pepperdine junior Alan Herrmann was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation team. Larry Felix made the third team.
Softball
Cal Lutheran will conduct a three-day camp for girls 9-16 beginning Monday at the school’s softball field in Thousand Oaks.
Regal Coach Kecia Davis is in charge of instruction, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
