Police arrested a suspected hit-and-run driver whose unregistered car slammed into two small children Nov. 27, seriously injuring them.
Det. Ruben Lopez of the Valley Traffic Division said Domingo Garcia, 25, of North Hollywood, hit the children with his car as they were walking near the intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Valerio Street. Police say Garcia was driving the car, and that he jumped out of it and fled on foot.
Garcia was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and booked for felony hit-and-run, police said. Garcia was being held on a “no-bail” narcotics warrant after his arrest, Lopez said.
Maria Quinones, 8, suffered head injuries and her brother Romero Quinones, 5, suffered head injuries and two broken legs. The children were with an aunt, Antonia Quinones, 28, who had minor injuries.
Police said they were able to track down Garcia through tips and help from the news media.
