Part of Downtown Freeway to Be Closed
All northbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway in the downtown “slot” near the Civic Center will be closed today and Sunday for major construction from 5 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The closed section of the Hollywood Freeway will stretch from the Golden State Freeway east of the Los Angeles River to the Pasadena Freeway at the downtown four-level interchange. Several connecting ramps will also be closed.
Caltrans suggests that drivers avoid the downtown area because of expected heavy congestion. Those who must drive there should use the northbound Golden State Freeway as an alternative route or enter the northbound Hollywood Freeway by taking the westbound Santa Monica Freeway to the northbound Harbor Freeway. The detour routes will be marked with electronic signs.
