NEW ATTORNEY: To be competitive in the National Football League you often need two quarterbacks, and Pasadena’s effort to lure a temporary franchise is no exception.

The city is hiring attorney Robert Carlson to get an NFL team in the Rose Bowl, after first choice Ron Olson became the attorney for Seattle Seahawks’ owner Ken Behring, city officials said.

Carlson, a neighbor of the Rose Bowl and a former Seattle Mariners attorney, would represent the city in negotiations with teams such as the Seahawks.

Al Moses, president of the Rose Bowl Operating Co., said Olson told him late last fall that he was being hired to represent an NFL franchise seeking to leave its city. Moses said Olson did not say which team until the Seahawks’ proposed move to Pasadena became public earlier this month.
