Shapiro Leads Newport Harbor Past Aliso Niguel

Justin Shapiro shot a 38 to lead Newport Harbor over Aliso Niguel, 211-215, in nonleague golf Tuesday.

Jason Tapie and Ryan Schuyler each shot 41 for Aliso Niguel (0-1) at par 36 Big Canyon Country Club. Newport Harbor is 1-1.

Estancia 204, Palm Springs 212--Estancia’s Mike Perry and Jeff Perry each shot 39 to share the top spot with Palm Springs’ Naoya Takamoto at the par 36 Mesa Verde Country Club.

Laguna Hills 208, Los Amigos 315--Tom Osseck and Mark Hancock each shot two-over-par 38 to lead Laguna Hills (1-0) at Leisure World.

Ocean View 232, Downey 251--Bob Johnson shot a two-over-par 38 to lead Ocean View (1-0) at Rio Hondo Country Club.

Santa Margarita 198, Esperanza 206--Brian Walley and Greg Pittenger each scored 38 for Santa Margarita (1-0). Esperanza’s Peter Hergert was the medalist, shooting two-over-par at the par 35 Yorba Linda Country Club.

In nonleague boys’ swimming:

Huntington Beach 98 1/2, Long Beach Millikan 67 1/2--Junior Anthony Iacopetti won the 100- (51.89) and 200-yard (1:52.32) freestyles and was in on two winning relays for Huntington Beach (1-0).

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Laguna Hills 10, San Clemente 8--Kevin Arnold won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to sweep for Laguna Hills in its season opener.

In nonleague volleyball:

El Dorado 3, Claremont 2--James Hart had seven of his kills in the final game, as host El Dorado won, 15-6, 18-16, 6-15, 9-15, 16-14, in its season opener.
