The Cincinnati Reds reached agreement with second baseman Bret Boone on a $725,000 contract for this season, leaving pitchers Hector Carrasco and Kevin Jarvis as the only unsigned Reds. Boone made $400,000 last season. . . . Tony Longmire, the Philadelphia Phillies’ backup left fielder, may sit out the season because of a left wrist injury that will require surgery next week. Longmire has a slightly elongated ulna bone from a 1990 injury. The Phillies also said that pitcher Tyler Green’s week-old bout with right shoulder tendinitis has not improved and will require further tests Monday.
