Huntington Beach Upsets Pacifica in Softball, 3-2

Heather Hibben (3-0) threw a four-hitter as Huntington Beach upset second-ranked Pacifica, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the Fountain Valley softball tournament Saturday at Mile Square Park.
Jessica Walker and Celea Kroeker each had two hits and an RBI for the Oilers (4-2), who will play third-ranked Foothill in the semifinals Saturday.
In another quarterfinal game:
Woodbridge 8, San Diego University 0--Christy Robitaille (5-1) threw a one-hitter for fourth-ranked Woodbridge (7-2), which will play top-ranked Mater Dei in the semifinals.
In the Covina Western Christian softball tournament:
Orange Lutheran 2, Covina Western Christian 1 (10)--Orange Lutheran’s Jenny Miklos drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning with a sacrifice in the championship game. Freshman Erin Norton (4-0) struck out six and has not given up an earned run in 26 innings this season for the Lancers (6-0).
In the Garden Grove softball tournament:
La Habra 2, Dana Hills 0--Christina Gibbons pitched a perfect game and had 11 strikeouts for La Habra (3-1) in pool play. Teammate Jenny Topping hit a double and a home run for the Highlanders.
In nonleague softball:
Capistrano Valley Christian 9, Redlands Calvary Chapel 1--Merin Kennedy (2-2) pitched a one-hitter and struck out 10 and Kathy Jencks was two for three for Capistrano Valley Christian (2-3).
In the Vic Braden Cup:
University 13, Camarillo 11--Eddie Lee’s 7-5 victory in the last set of the match secured the consolation championship for University. Teammate Jon Biorkman won his singles match, 6-1, and teamed with Chris Seid to win in doubles (6-0, 6-0).
In Golden West League baseball:
Servite 2, Tustin 1--The Friars took the lead in the seventh when Bill Brundige singled and pinch-runner Alvin Loreto later scored on a wild pitch. Rick Chessman (3-0) did not give up an earned run and struck out six for the Friars. Chris Bailey hit his second home run of the season for Servite (5-1, 1-0).
In nonleague baseball:
Brea Olinda 10, Quartz Hill 4--Tommy Prenevost had a two-run single in the Wildcats’ seven-run fifth inning and was the winner in relief. Wayne Shuplock added two hits for Brea Olinda (4-3).
Garden Grove 2-3, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 0-5--Joe Maselli (1-2) threw a four-hitter in the first game for Garden Grove, striking out seven and walking two. The Argonauts (2-6) got their runs in the fourth, when Greg Pines doubled in a run and later scored.
La Quinta 9-14, Buena Park 2-6--Jamal Dawkins had a double and a home run in the second game of a doubleheader for La Quinta (4-3). Teammate Jason Garcia had five hits and three RBIs on the day for the Aztecs.
