Cleveland State Coach Mike Boyd resigned after a tragedy-marred season in which the Vikings finished 5-21.
Last August, before the season started, Jamal Jackson, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder in 1994-95, was stabbed and killed in Boston.
The Vikings were 3-13 and finished last in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. They lost their last nine games.
Boyd’s teams at Cleveland State were 79-88 overall. His best team was 22-6 in 1992-93.
Boyd, 49, gave no specific reason for his resignation.
