Mike Weaver, the headliner of the main event tonight at the Warner Center Marriott, is a boxer whose glory days are more than a decade behind him. But preceding him to the ring in undercard bouts are several prospects whose best days probably are still ahead.

Fernando Zuniga, Adan Casillas, Danny Perez and Joe Pudar have launched their professional careers with impressive winning streaks.

Zuniga, who meets Stacy Goodson in a six-round super-middleweight bout, won his professional debut late last year at the Marriott in what was then a state-record 13 seconds.

Zuniga, a native of Ecuador, has won two more fights since--both first-round knockouts. Goodson is 4-7-1 with two KOs.

Casillas packs a similarly explosive punch, based on his record entering a six-round lightweight bout against Dane Bernard. Casillas is 7-0, all KOs. Bernard is 0-0-1.

Perez, also a lightweight, is a former Golden Gloves amateur champion who is 2-0 as a professional--both victories at the Marriott. He is scheduled to meet Jorge Rosas (3-4) in a four-round bout.

Pudar, a native of Bosnia, is 3-0 with two KOs. He meets Lance Olson (4-2, two KOs) in a heavyweight bout scheduled for four rounds.

Light-heavyweight Robert Galstyan, a Glendale resident who has become a top local draw at recent Marriott cards, makes his second appearance of the year in a four-round bout against Danny Shepard. Galstyan, a record-holding power lifter from Armenia, is 3-0 with two KOs. Shepard is 0-5.

Fabian Meza, another local product, is making his pro debut after posting a 5-3 record as an amateur. Meza, from Van Nuys, meets Rick Phillips (1-3) in a four-round heavyweight bout.

The main event is an age mismatch. Weaver, 44, faces Deric Ryals, a 31-year-old from Garden Grove with a 6-1-1 record and four KOs. Nicknamed “Kosher KO” because he is a descendant of an ancient Israelite tribe, Ryals is a former state Golden Gloves champion who was 46-6 as an amateur.

Weaver is 40-16-1 with 28 KOs. His last fight was a 12-round decision over George O’Mara at the Marriott.
