Saddleback 13, Golden West 0 (5, mercy)--Jodie Smith gave up a single to Golden West’s first batter and didn’t give up another hit the rest of the way. Smith walked three and struck out four for Saddleback, which plays at Cypress at 3 p.m. Friday.
Stacy Henderson had three hits, three RBIs and scored twice and Christina Loya had three hits, three runs scored and an RBI for the Gauchos.
Rancho Santiago 3, Irvine Valley 0--Sheryl Anderson pitched a one-hitter and Melissa Cruz hit her 12th double to tie a single-season school record for Rancho Santiago (26-15-1, 9-4). Kathy Turner’s double in the fourth was the only hit for Irvine Valley (15-22-1, 2-11).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, San Diego Mesa 1--Curtis Jackson had 25 kills and Ryan Woods 24 for Golden West (13-2, 12-2), which won, 15-8, 15-8, 14-16, 15-8. The victory moves the Rustlers into a second-place tie with Mesa, one match behind Orange Coast.
Orange Coast 3, Grossmont 0--Mike Pixler had 10 kills as Orange Coast (16-1, 13-1) won its 13th consecutive match, 15-7, 15-4, 15-2.
Palomar 3, Irvine Valley 1--Beau Bianchi had 27 kills for Irvine Valley (4-10, 4-10), which lost, 15-13, 8-15, 15-11, 15-10.
