Titans Sweep Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Pitcher Brandi Isgar won twice as host Cal State Fullerton swept a doubleheader from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in nonconference softball Saturday.

The Titans (34-15) won the first game, 9-1, and took the second, 7-2.

Isgar (17-8) pitched six innings, giving up two hits and striking out five in the first game. She then threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief in the second game as Cal State Fullerton rallied from a 2-0, fourth-inning deficit.

Chris Zboril hit her fourth home run of the season and had two runs batted in in the first game.

Beth Queypo, who had five hits, was three for three with a triple and drove in three runs in the second game. Senetha Thomas hit her 10th home run of the season and had two RBIs.

In Big West Conference softball:

Long Beach 6-1, UC Santa Barbara 0-0--Amy Miner pitched a four-hit shutout in the first game of a doubleheader for Long Beach State (27-16). Miner had eight strikeouts in improving her record to 12-4.

Amanda Adams had a home run and three RBIs for the 49ers.

Tiffany Blood had two hits in the second game for Long Beach State.

In the Golden State Athletic Conference softball:

Azusa Pacific 7-0, Southern California College 4-1--Jen Houston pitched a four-hit shutout in the second game as Southern California College (19-17-2, 7-2) split a doubleheader with Azusa Pacific (31-9, 8-2).

Chrissy Vega had two hits and three runs scored in the first game for the Vanguards.

In the Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:

Cal Baptist 11-3, Southern California College 5-2--Ramsey Altwaiji’s single in the seventh inning drove in Corey Bobryk to win the game as Cal Baptist completed the sweep of Southern California College (10-28, 5-13). Shane Spicer had three hits for Cal Baptist.

Pitcher Brian Jacobson had 12 strikeouts in the first game for Cal Baptist.

Leadoff hitter Kevin Doyle had four hits in the game for the Vanguards. Teammate Joe Rivera had two hits and two RBIs.

In the Azusa Pacific Track and Field Classic:

Carlson wins--Southern California College’s Kevin Carlson won the high jump at the BFI track and field Meet of Champions at Azusa Pacific. Carlson’s jump was 7 feet 2 1/2 inches.

Amy Lewis finished second in the javelin for the Vanguards with a throw of 99-1. Teammate Gina Jojola finished third in the javelin with a throw of 95-6.

In nonconference track and field:

UCLA wins easily--The UCLA men’s and women’s teams dominated a nonconference track meet at UCLA. The men won with 107 points and Houston was second with 53. In the women’s division, UCLA had 88 points and CS Northridge finished second with 41 points.

UC Irvine’s Holiday Molway won the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.19. Ryan Fischer won the javelin for the Anteaters with a throw of 174-9.

Both UC Irvine track teams finished in fourth place.

In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:

UC Irvine 3, Loyola Marymount 1--Chris Harger had 20 kills in the victory for UC Irvine (8-16, 3-15), which won, 15-6, 7-15, 17-15, 16-14.
