Dallas Gets MLS Win

DALLAS — A Cotton Bowl crowd of 27,779 saw the first Major League Soccer shootout on Sunday as the Burn (1-0) beat the San Jose Clash, 2-1, after a scoreless regulation.
Burn goalkeeper Mark Dodd stopped four of five shots by San Jose (1-1) in the shootout. Dallas got shootout goals from John Kerr and Lawrence Lozzano.
MLS’ weekend attendance was 169,914, an average of 33,983.
