Grossmont 3, Irvine Valley 1--Beau Bianchi had 18 kills for visiting Irvine Valley, which lost, 15-5, 14-16, 15-8, 15-2.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Fullerton 6, Saddleback 0--Lynette Velasquez pitched a five-hitter for Fullerton (30-8, 14-3), which remained tied with Cypress for first. Velasquez had three singles and a run batted in and Cara Hatt had three singles and two runs scored for Fullerton.

Mindy Cook and Treva Whitaker each had two hits for Saddleback (26-9, 12-5).

Cypress 8, Irvine Valley 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Jaime Wilkes pitched a one-hitter for Cypress (14-3, 36-12-1).

Rancho Santiago 8, Orange Coast 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Winning pitcher Sheryl Anderson tied a school single-season record by posting her 26th victory for host Rancho Santiago (29-16-1, 12-5).

Riverside 3, Golden West 2--Teresa Pinkerton gave up four hits, two walks and no earned runs for Golden West (11-13, 7-10).

In the Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis tournament:

Unseeded Hosoi advances--Saddleback’s Missy Hosoi advanced to today’s singles final with a 6-7 (9-11), 6-1, 6-3 victory over second-seeded Susan Yildiz of Irvine Valley. Top-seeded Debbie Vonusa of Fullerton also advanced, defeating third-seeded Gabi Rios of Saddleback, 6-1, 6-2.

Vonusa and sister Lynn Vonusa, top-seeded in doubles, beat Yildiz and Sarah Curry, 6-3, 7-5, to advance to the doubles final.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s swimming and diving:

Grossmont 141, Saddleback 95; Saddleback 153, San Diego Mesa 36--Charles Malki won the 50 freestyle (22.39) and Yuya Aoyama won the 200 backstroke (2:18.21) for Saddleback.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s swimming and diving:

Saddleback 224, San Diego Mesa 41; Saddleback 197, Grossmont 99--Joyce Schneiderman won the 200 individual medley (2:22.96) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.51).
