San Gabriel Valley : SOCCER MANIA

Rose Bowl officials told the Pasadena City Council Monday that they are ready for a sellout crowd at Sunday’s Los Angeles Galaxy soccer match as they and team officials predicted a repeat of the record-breaking crowd at the inaugural game.

“We expect 70,000 next game. We can manage that. We did that for World Cup,” said Alfred Moses, president of the Rose Bowl Operating Co. Board that runs the stadium.

Rose Bowl General Manager David Jacobs said crowd and traffic control will be beefed up considerably in the wake of the professional soccer team’s opener, which two weeks ago surprised everyone with an attendance double what was expected. Neighbors complained about traffic snarls and littered streets after they were besieged by soccer fans and their cars.
