Redondo’s 20-game unbeaten streak came to an end Saturday in a 5-3 loss to West Torrance in the final of its own tournament. Mark Spalding (4-1) gave up four hits, struck out five and pitched a complete game to lead West Torrance, which improved to 17-4. Spalding, the tournament’s most valuable player, also went two for four and drove in two runs. . . . After losing to Lakewood, 8-0, earlier this season, Long Beach Millikan got revenge with a 7-3 victory over the Lancers on Tuesday. The teams will play for the Moore League title today at 4:30 p.m. at Blair Field. In Tuesday’s game, Millikan broke things open with seven consecutive hits, including sophomore Eric Powell’s leadoff triple, that resulted in four runs in the fourth inning. Pitcher Randy Tymchak, another sophomore, went the distance for the victory. . . . Downey Warren catcher Mike Cota is hitting .404 in 19 games with 21 runs batted in. Warren is 12-7 overall and 8-2 in the San Gabriel Valley League. It is tied for first with Paramount, and the schools play each other at Paramount on Friday. Junior left-handed pitcher Josh Scott has also been strong for Warren. He is 6-2 with an earned-run average just over 1.00. . . . Joshua Nip was four for five with seven RBIs in Pilgrim’s 18-1 victory over Mesrobian on Tuesday. . . . The Corono Centennial School board relieved Bobby Holley of his duties as baseball coach. Holley had been suspended as coach since an incident March 28 when he was ejected from a game against Norco for arguing with an umpire.
